POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Superintendent, Mill Operations, the Mill Operations Supervisor will be responsible for leading a crew of up to 13 Mill Operations Technicians in a safe and productive manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote a safe working environment
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily mill operation activities
  • Ensure each process circuit is operating safely and efficiently
  • Participate in the development of Safe Work Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Lockout Procedures (SLPs)
  • Monitor employee's productivity, provide feedback when required
  • Execute operator training and development plans to grow the crew’s overall effectiveness
  • Provide effective leadership to reinforce a positive workplace culture
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Utilize resources efficiently to reach targets and goals
  • Monitor, control, and report mill consumables

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Five years of progressive milling experience plus 3 years supervisory experience in a mining setting preferred
  • Previous experience in mineral beneficiation. Specific experience in crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening and filtration are an asset.
  • Possess, or able to hold, a British Columbia Supervisor Certification
  • Strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to build and maintain crew motivation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems and process trending software is an asset.
