Provide feedback to Operations Supervisors and Superintendent regarding consistency of operation. Supervise Mining and Construction contractors as needed.


  • Provide QA/QC of Pit and TSF to ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to maximize performance of the operation
  • Make KPIs highly visible
  • Roll out expectations to Operations
  • Provide feedback to Ops Supervisors regarding performance
  • Seek out and identify persistent operational issues, prioritize, organize efforts to resolve, and track & report progress to leadership and operating personnel

Continuous Improvement

  • Where assigned, conduct thorough investigations and document findings
  • Drive Mining Operations projects where assigned
  • Utilize inter-departmental resources to identify best practices.
  • Act as a link/ambassador between departments.
  • Coordinate department activities and facilitate communication during implementation of projects, improvements, and best practices
  • Work with the group of supervisors to further develop skill set and decision making process

Operations SOPs

  • Identify which SOPs are required
  • Prioritize and assist the trainers in the development of SOPs
  • Publish and roll out SOPs to operations personnel


  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a conventional truck & shovel open pit operation.
  • Valid open pit shift boss ticket
  • Knowledge and experience operating the various types of equipment involved
  • Mine rescue knowledge a benefit
  • Knowledge of MineStar™ system a benefit


  • The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.
