THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Manager, Mine Operations, the Superintendent, Tailings Storage Facility's key objective is to develop, manage, and support projects related to the Tailings Storage Facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) & Infrastructure construction and monitoring activities with Environment, Site Projects team, Mine Operations, Mill Operations & Maintenance, Regulators and external consultants
- Accountable for technical oversight of the TSF
- Manage resources to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Oversight of site geotechnical, and tailings planning team.
- Accountable for deposition plans, TSF QA/QC, site investigations, site monitoring activities, and site water balance
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8-12 years in project management, including minimum 5 years related to TSF infrastructure including dam construction
- Bachelors’ degree in Mining, Geotechnical, or Civil engineering
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed as Professional Engineer with EGBC
- Desirable to have Project Management Professional certification
- Strong understanding of project management including scheduling and cost controls
- Geotechnical and/or hydrogeology experience would be an asset
- Strong focus on safety, quality assurance and quality control
- Experience working with procurement in assembling procurement packages
- Demonstrable experience in capital project planning, scheduling, execution and reporting
- Strong communication, organizational, and team building skills
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
- Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
- Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel.
- This is a camp-based position with a schedule 4 days of work and 3 days of rest.
