Reporting to the Superintendent, Tailings Storage Facility, the Tailings Planner will support the overall business by ensuring tailings dam design, planning, and operations are completed to meet the requirements of the operation. This includes providing input into the various long-range plans and creating the Weekly Tailings Plan for Mill Operations and Site Services.



  • Provide inputs to 13 Week Plans, Quarterly Forecasts, and LOM plans
  • Work with teammates to maintain a database of ramps, pipeline crossings, and pipe decks to include in plans
  • Create and track compliance to two-week deposition plans
  • Determine infrastructure requirements to meet long term tailings plan
  • Work with Projects team to develop scope and designs for tailings infrastructure
  • Perform reconciliations of deposition plans and mass balances to confirm model assumptions
  • Recommend and manage field investigations for tailings deposition
  • Perform bathymetric surveys of tailings ponds
  • Assist Water Resources Engineer with water balance




  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining, Geotechnical, or Civil Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in tailings planning preferred
  • Tailings planning software experience (preferably MineBridge Muk3D)
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the operation
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to program Excel VBA advantageous
  • Exposure to project coordination and ability to make sound project decisions
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with EGBC.
  • Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements

  • The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel. The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 14 days on 14 days off, 12 hours days.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.
