POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Labourer will be responsible for various maintenance activities common to a surface hard rock mining operation and the associated blasting, loading, hauling, and support equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keeping the shop and yard clean daily
- Maintain and safely operate Wash Bay facility and Peterbilt steam truck
- Perform general inspections while washing and notify maintenance supervisor of potential issues
- Steam cleaning equipment for repair in shop.
- Snow removal around shop and front parking lot (seasonal).
- Operating fork trucks for moving parts and other items, around the shop and yard
- Operating company vehicles to pick up parts and move items around the yard
- Assist with shop employees and becoming a part of a maintenance team.
- Provide on-site services Actively participate in various safety activities
- Assist Mine Maintenance Technicians Performing Preventative Maintenance inspections and Preventative Maintenance services
- Assist Mine Maintenance Technicians with service and repair of equipment in the field
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- High School or equivalent preferred.
- Heavy Duty Mechanic Pre-apprentice courses are considered an asset
- Ability to self-evaluate and continuously strive for quality
- Good radio communications are key
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and keep on schedule
- Experience preferred Proven safety and attendance record
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds is required
- Willingness to work in adverse conditions
- Self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7/7 work schedule, 12 hours per day,
- Regular exposure to working indoors and outdoors, continuous noise, working around machinery with moving parts, around heavy equipment and in close proximity to others
- Exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

- The employee is expected to stay at the mine site, while on rotation
- Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie.
