Summary

Reporting to the Superintendent, Mill Reliability, the Mechanical Reliability Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring the mill's operational reliability, efficiency, and safety. As part of the maintenance and operations team, the primary responsibilities will include monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving mechanical systems critical to the mill's daily functions.at the Mount Milligan mine.

Responsibilities 

  • Assist in planning and executing maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned downtime and improve equipment longevity, leveraging tools such as vibration analysis and condition monitoring.
  • Analyze mechanical performance data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, propose solutions, and implement upgrades under senior supervision.
  • Uphold safety standards by conducting regular inspections and ensuring all mechanical systems align with regulatory and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Participate in the evaluation of repair versus replacement decisions and contribute to cost-saving initiatives by identifying areas for process or equipment optimization.
  • Develop skills in mechanical engineering applications specific to mining and milling, contributing to long-term succession planning and a skilled talent pipeline.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. Registered (or able to register) P.Eng. with EGBC.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Processing Plant of a mining operation.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and condition monitoring of mechanical assets.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the operation
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to use integrated maintenance management systems. Experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Exposure to project coordination and a demonstrated ability to make sound project decisions.
  • Effective leadership to build a strong employee culture.
  • Self-starter and high-performance attitude.
  • Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements.
  • Valid Canadian Driving License.

Working Conditions

  • Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 14 x 14 work schedule, 12 hours per day.
  • The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James, Mackenzie and Smithers. Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.
  • Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
