Reporting to the Supervisor, Dewatering, the Technician will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and relocation of dewatering systems to ensure effective water management across site. This role is a 3 month fixed-term contract.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining the operational integrity of all dewatering infrastructure
- Assisting with moving pipelines, setting up pumps, refueling, etc.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area
- Helping with the fusing and splicing of pipes
- Actively participating in setting policies and procedures
- Actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives, and in training and development
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Technician role as required or as assigned by the department head
Education & Experience
- 4+ years operating experience in mining with a dewatering/pumping background
- Experience in tailings pipeline operation and installation, including HDPE fusing
- Experience with 4 to 42-inch HDPE lines would be an asset
- Experience in the installation of well pumps
- Experience in operation of equipment including dozer, loader, and excavator
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to personal transportation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Comfortable working in a team environment, with a willingness to mentor and train others
- Attention and compliance to established safety rules and guidelines is paramount
- Ability to lift 50 pounds is required
- Excellent attendance record
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements
Working Conditions
- Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7/7 work schedule, 12 hours per day
- Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration
- Regular exposure to working indoors and outdoors, continuous noise, working around machinery with moving parts, around heavy equipment and in close proximity to others
- Exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
