TECHNICIAN: Mine Operations/Shifter Relief

Mt. Milligan is currently seeking an experienced Mine Operation Technician/Shifter Relief to join our growing Operations team. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Mine Operations Technician/Shifter Relief will be responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and responsible manner and occasionally fill in as a Shifter supervising of Mine Operations Technicians (Equipment Operators & Truck Drivers).



  • Assist with the operational integrity of the Mining department as required; in order to achieve safety, environmental, quality, costs, production and continuous improvement targets.
  • Operate various types of heavy machinery in an open pit mine
  • Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports
  • Report unsafe mechanical conditions to shop foreman and supervisor
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment
  • Follow established traffic patterns avoiding road hazards and other hazardous conditions
  • Actively participate in set policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.


  • Attention and compliance to established safety rules and guidelines is paramount.
  • Experience in an open pit mining environment
  • Collaborative work style – willing to participate in solving problems.
  • Positive outlook with good interpersonal skills.
  • 2 or more years experience as a heavy equipment operator such as grader, loader, dozer, excavator, or production truck.
  • A record of excellent attendance.
  • Ability to stay alert and pay attention to detail during all hours and weather conditions encountered during a shift.
  • Ability to safely climb and access equipment, as well as lift heavy objects up to 50lbs  
  • Strong leadership/team skills and the ability to work independently as required
  • Valid BC Shift boss ticket considered required
  • Valid BC Drivers License required


  • The schedule will be rotating days and nights, 7 days on with 7 days’ rest, 12-hour shifts
