TECHNICIAN - Mine Operations / Loading




  • Assist with the operational integrity of the Mining department as required; to achieve safety, environmental, quality, costs, production and continuous improvement targets.
  • Operate 994 & 998 CAT loaders; 390 CAT excavators; 7495 electric shovels
  • Operate various types of heavy machinery in an open pit mine i.e. Haul trucks (CAT 740, 777, 789, 793 Excavators (CAT, 390)
  • Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports
  • Report unsafe mechanical conditions to shop foreman and supervisor
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment
  • Follow established traffic patterns avoiding road hazards and other hazardous conditions
  • Actively participate in set policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives. 


  • 5 or more years experience as a heavy equipment operator
  • Attention and compliance to established safety rules and guidelines is paramount.
  • Experience in an open pit mining environment
  • Collaborative work style – willing to participate in solving problems.
  • Positive outlook with good interpersonal skills.
  • A record of excellent attendance.
  • Ability to stay alert and pay attention to detail during all hours and weather conditions encountered during a shift.
  • Ability to safely climb and access equipment, as well as lift heavy objects up to 50lbs  
  • Strong leadership/team skills and the ability to work independently as required
  • Valid BC Drivers License required 


  • The schedule will be rotating days and nights, 7 days on with 7 days’ rest, 12-hour shifts
  • This is a camp based position, with bus transportation provided from Prince George, Mackenzie and Fort St James. 
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times  
  • Preference will be given to candidates in the local area.
