Position Overview:

The Environmental Coordinator will provide scientific and technical leadership to support our Environmental Monitoring Plan and Compliance Reporting. 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate aquatic health monitoring programs (e.g. fisheries, benthic invertebrates, sediment), including work plan development, scheduling, lead field programs, data assimilation, interpretation, and drafting reports
  • Work with Environmental Monitor staff to complete field programs (including mentoring of strong field data collection skills)
  • Assist with development and implementation of environmental effects monitoring program
  • Assist with preparation of additional permits and approvals, or amendments as required
  • Assist with other environmental monitoring programs as required (e.g. wildlife, vegetation)
  • Assist with development and implementation of EMS in conformance with permit requirements and ISO 14001
  • Awareness of permit terms and conditions and how they relate to monitoring programs and reporting
  • Commitment to Health & Safety and Cultural Awareness programs
  • Act as the Delegate for the ES as requested.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. Fisheries Act)
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related Natural Resources Management field
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience, preferably with experience leading monitoring programs and/or designing sampling programs
  • Strong technical writing and data analysis skills
  • Current registration or eligible for registration in a professional discipline (e.g. R.P.Bio.)
