GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY AND SUMMARY

The Consolidation & Reporting Analyst will be responsible for the group consolidation of financial data (monthly) from subsidiaries and joint ventures entities and assist in the preparation of timely and accurate consolidated financial statements to meet the reporting requirements.

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • This position reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting.
  • There are no direct reports to this position.
  • This position manages a process which requires the inputs from the subsidiaries accounting team for the purpose of consolidation and will assist in preparing Centerra’s financial statements.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibilities captured in this role can be grouped in two major areas:  (1) consolidation (2) reporting

 

Consolidation (responsible to the Manager, Financial Reporting for following duties):

  • Responsible for the group consolidation of financial data (monthly) from subsidiaries and joint ventures entities.
  • Interfacing with various offices to ensure complete and accurate information for consolidation;
  • Prepare and record consolidation journal entries, including eliminations entries, amortizations, accruals and cross charges in consolidating Centerra’s monthly results.
  • Analyse and prepare monthly inter-company matching reports, interact with sites to resolve differences and record inter-company elimination/adjustment as required.
  • Assume the lead role in preparing the monthly flash reporting, including the consolidation of site submissions.
  • Liaise with auditors in the quarterly and year-end review audits, providing them with required analysis and promptly responding to their queries. 
  • Take a lead role in the maintenance of the consolidation software (Hyperion), ensuring the integrity of the database and ensure its availability to operational users, and maintenance of the group’s chart of accounts.
  • Assist in the development and writing of necessary reports using the consolidation software for the purposes of internal and external reporting, including monthly budget variance analysis.

 

Reporting (responsible to the Manager, Financial Reporting for following duties):

  • Assist with the preparation of both internal and external reporting requirements, including notes to the financial statements and MD&A;
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations for the executives;
  • Conduct IFRS research to develop policies on technical accounting requirements.
  • Prepare Statistics Canada Filings
  • Prepare and review ad-hoc statutory financial statements for the subsidiaries
  • Perform complex analyses of financial and/or statistical data and prepare reports for management;
  • Assist the Director, Treasury with debt covenant calculations.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Comprehensive understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
  • High level proficiency in written and oral English
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience with Oracle/Hyperion (HFM, FCCS) would be an asset
  • Developed constructive relationships in order to work with other departments, including those in foreign operations, to ensure smooth and timely collection of information required for various accounting purposes;
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and a willingness to work to a flexible schedule.

 

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

  • A professional accounting designation is required (CPA, CA);
  • Experience working with a mining company or as an auditor;
  • Experience in group consolidations (direct or as an auditor);
  • Direct experience with the preparation of financial statements, from either public practice or industry experience;

 

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal:

  • Regular interface with executive management, management and functional staff at the corporate offices and with accounting staff at the subsidiaries and joint ventures

External:

  • External financial and tax auditors
  • SOX consultants

 

DIMENSIONS

The incumbent prepares monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reports to meet the strict deadline of the internal and external reporting requirements of Centerra Gold Inc as a public listed company.  The incumbent also assists with preparation of the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements of Centerra.
