Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, the Mine Mobile Equipment Trainer will be responsible for the training, follow-up, and record keeping for mining equipment operators. The incumbent will coordinate training efforts with the Training Superintendent and Human Resources.

This is a hands on position that requires experience in best practice safety, mining, and maintenance methodologies to manage the activities involved in the assessment, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of training and development programs for the Mount Milligan Operation.

The focus will be Operational Excellence ensuring the skills of the workforce meet and exceed industry and manufacturer best practice. The role will also be responsible for ensuring the mine, local and regional training resources have the capability and programs to meet the development needs of the mine at start-up and during the life of the operation. Building and maintaining productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders will be required and critical to the success of this role.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting training & development for MTM Mine Operations Equipment Operators and ensuring all persons working on site are duly authorized, appointed and skilled.
  • Improving the overall operational skill level.
  • Plan the training with Mine Operations General Foreman’s.
  • Report writing and record keeping.
  • Creating an environment that fosters a safe working environment
  • Develop and revise training and assessment resources
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives of the department
  • A demonstrated personal commitment to safety is required. This is seen through work habits, one on one discussions, and throughout the workplace behaviours.

 

Qualifications:

  • Certified Training Practitioner (CTP) or Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) Certification is desirable.
  • 5-10 years’ experience operating heavy equipment in a heavy industrial/mining environment (preferably open pit mining).
  • Able to assess the following machinery/equipment: Cat end dumps, grader, drills, dozers, BE drills and shovels, and other mine ancillary equipment.
  • Proven competency in Training and Assessment methods and techniques to Canadian Mining standards
  • Good computing skills using MS Office products;
  • Mine rescue experience is preferred
  • Superb interpersonal skills with a supportive, positive approach to training.
