Position Overview:

 

Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, the Health & Safety Coordinator will support the operational requirements in the development, implementation and maintenance of Health & Safety program and behaviors as per the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia and Centerra Golds Vision and Values.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead by safe example at all times.
  • Resource to all departments in:
    •  Education and awareness relative to occupational health, safety, and hygiene.
    • Development of Hazard Assessments and mitigation for occupational exposures.
  • Promote, maintain, and enhance existing Occupational Hygiene program.
  • Promote, maintain, and enhance existing Confined Space Entry program.
  • Provide ongoing support and training related to occupational health and hygiene.
  • Monitor and report on health, safety and hygiene performance to site.
  • Support the development of a culture based on safety ownership both individual and team accountability.
  • Assess internal and external audit requirements and make recommendations for improved performance relating to areas of potential non-compliance.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulation and applicable acts and codes.
  • Support the site Mine Emergency Response Program.

 

    Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or working towards completion  
  • Registered Occupational Hygienist or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role in mining or heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for report writing and presentations.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to maintain positive working relationships within a diverse workforce and leadership team
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety standards pertaining to legislation and the mining industry in British Columbia
  • Valid First Aid certificate, WCB OFA3 is an asset

 

Work Schedule:

 

This position is based at the Mine site where camp accommodations will be provided. The work rotation is four (4) days on and three (3) days off, working ten (10) hour shifts.
