As a member of the Centerra Gold Services Management team, the Regional Manager, Human Resources leads the overall management of Human Resources operations at the shared services office and the existing 3 mine sites. The Regional Manager ensures Human Resources practices and objectives provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, accountability, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.

This role provides advice, leadership and expertise to Managers and Supervisors on key HR programs, such as Employee and Labour Relations, Performance Management, Employment Law, Organizational Behaviour and best practices.  The position also works closely with management functions, but particularly Health & Safety, Training, and Community Relations & Sustainability to ensure that there is close alignment in the functions and the strategy and culture that they help drive.

The Reginal Manager, Human Resources is located primarily in Prince George with frequent overnight and extended travel to mine sites as required. This position oversees the direct supervision of 9 Human Resources and related direct reports at various sites.



  • Responsible for providing strong positive and proactive leadership to manage and coordinate BC Regional Human Resources practices and strategies through, in part, ensuring that policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to in compliance with current legislation and aligned with Centerra Gold corporate standards and directives.
  • Manage and oversee the organisational structure ensuring that all approved structural changes and labor movements are maintained accurately updated in a timely manner.
  • Manage and coordinate the remuneration and reward policies for the BC operations, maintaining reviews within the guidelines provided by Centerra and ensuring that reportable timeframes are met.
  • Develop an annual budget for the HR Department ensuring that all operational and capital needs are adequately catered for to effectively deliver on the department’s business plan.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and support to the Management Team to effectively manage their workforce, building leadership capabilities and implementation of succession plans to ensure bench strength is built and maintained.
  • Effectively partner internally and externally to build strategic working alliances which facilitate the accomplishment of goals through productive and constructive interpersonal relationships.
  • Ensure positive community relations are maintained within the communities surrounding the operational areas of the respective mine.
  • Support Behavioral based Safety and Risk culture and activities at sites.
  • Develop and drive a positive, safe, empowering work culture throughout the BC region that fosters teamwork, high performance and personal development.
  • Oversee the implementation of appropriate internal and external training to improve individual development and capability and enhance employee engagement, productivity and job satisfaction.
  • Ensure the ongoing growth and development of the HR Team through providing strong leadership, mentoring, direction and feedback on overall performance and operational responsibilities within the team to create/promote a competent, professional and effective team who delivers a valuable HR service to the business unit.
  • Be an advocate and driver of success, teamwork, collaboration, motivation, responsibility, continuous improvement, positive change, and respect in the workplace.



  • University degree in an HR related field. Accreditation is considered an asset
  • 10 – 15 years experience leading an HR or related function, ideally in a site-based role with a strong working knowledge of multi discipline HR functions including industrial relations and organizational strategy development
  • Strong understanding of BC employment standards and other applicable laws
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage different levels within the organization and external parties
  • Sound strategic planning skills and abilities
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office applications plus familiarity with HRIS systems
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to engage and influence senior leaders and other key stakeholders
  • Proven track record of success in HR Policy & Procedure implementation and management
  • Exposure to HR management in the resources industries in Canada, preferably BC
  • Experience in Mine site safety programs is considered an asset
