Position Overview:

The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a slope stability data collection and monitoring program.     



  • Fostering a culture of safe work practices
  • Implementation of relevant rock mass data collection and slope movement monitoring systems
  • Hydrogeological monitoring and assessments for open pit slope stability
  • Management of open pit slope stability databases and systems
  • Coordinate  with other mine operations multidisciplinary team members, and especially the drill & blast engineer to ensure best practices for ground control;
  • Design and supervision of geomechanical site investigation programs
  • Slope stability assessments and analyses
  • Reporting on a regular basis, technical report preparation, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Some tailings dam construction oversight, geotechnical analysis, and construction material evaluations may be required.



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geological or Mining Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years of relative experience - Practical work experience specifically related to open pit rock mechanics projects is preferred.
  • Operational monitoring systems experience within an underground or open pit mine
  • The ideal candidate will possess a technical background in geomechanical site investigation, analysis, and slope stability assessment
  • Strong computer skills with mining and slope monitoring software
