Summary

Reporting to the General Manager, the Infrastructure and Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing the Environment, Geotechnical, Site Infrastructure, and Project Teams with a safety-first mindset. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee on-site water-related aspects, including the site-wide water balance and optimal use of existing facilities. 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage the geotechnical team to ensure the Tailing Storage Facility (TSF) is at acceptable standards including optimization of the annual lift construction and engagement in design aspects for future lifts and long-term waste storage options.
  • Responsible for the site wide water balance and optimal management of the existing facilities as well as the evaluation and execution for new water sources.
  • Support permitting process for obtaining necessary approvals for expansion projects including project related to the TSF and water.
  • Manage Site Services/Dewatering teams and ensuring resources to maintain and enhance critical equipment performance and availability.
  • Manage the Project team and resources to ensure that project goals, scope, and deliverables are accomplished within specified timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Manage and provide support to the environment team and to ensure that the site complies with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, geology, geotechnical or a related field.
  • Proven experience in tailings storage facility management, water management and project management
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing technical teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in the mining industry.

 

Working Conditions

  • The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
  • Camp accommodations will be provided and the preferred work rotation is four day on and three days off but alternative schedule will be considered for the right candidate.
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.
  • Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
