Summary
Reporting to the Superintendent, Projects & Infrastructure the incumbent is responsible for Project Manager scope within projects and infrastructure department. The ideal candidate would have experience in civil/mechanical engineering, project management and mining.
He/she also brings a deep understanding of innovation and industry-leading best practices, along with an established reputation for operating within a culture committed to safety, environmentally sustainable operations, and to operating in a socially responsible manner.
The position is Fixed Term for approx. between 9 – 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Delivers technical-economic studies for projects as assigned, compiles and submits project justifications as required.
- Responsible for developing resource allocation and procurement plans, and PERT/CPM-based schedules, and adhering to schedules and cost controls as budgeted.
- Create and maintain a project schedule, which defines activities, sequence, dependencies, work effort, duration, and associated resource requirements.
- Develop and maintain cost control and reporting systems of high quality for all Capital Projects, in a format that is acceptable to all.
- Secure and oversee contracts with outside parties.
- Plan and manage internal and external project communications, ensuring effective exchange of project information and deliverables and identify, analyze, prioritize, mitigate, and communicate project risks.
- Provide and promote high standards of professionalism, integrity, and leadership throughout the life of project(s), both within and outside Centerra, appropriately representing Centerra’s business philosophies, protocols and standards.
- Manage quality trade-offs and acquire appropriate resources to meet project needs.
- Ensure project management policies and guidelines are followed promoting safe work conditions and proactive collaboration and relationship building skills.
- Adhere to and promote the cost budget and the cost controls provided by the company.
- Supervises and oversees the quality of engineering designs for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical. Reporting on a regular basis, technical report preparation, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities
- University degree in engineering, preferably in Civil or Mechanical. An advanced degree would be an asset
- PMP designation or technical credentials in project management is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in relevant project management environment, 6-8 years in the mining industry is preferred.
- Successful track record of implementation and commissioning stages of project(s) in international environment.
- Demonstrated experience directing internal and client teams involved in multiple activities.
- Ability to strategically and tactically organize and structure activities.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in mediation, negotiation, and presentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Strong decision making & problem-solving skills, with appropriate risk management competencies.
- Registration with EGBC as P. Eng is an asset.
- Previous experience working in the mining industry in a project management or engineering role.
- Collaborate with clients and coworkers, create, and build strong client and team relationships

Working Conditions
- This position is based at the mine site where camp accommodations will be provided. The work rotation is fourteen (14) days on and fourteen (14) days off, working twelve (12) hour shifts.
- The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
- Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie. Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel.
- Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.
- Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
