Summary

Reporting to the Mill Operations Supervisor, the Technician, Mill Operations will be responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of the crushing and milling complex as required.

Responsibilities 

  • Maintain the operational integrity of all areas in the mill; to achieve safety, environmental, quality, costs, and production targets.
  • Operating and monitoring various circuits in the processing plant as required by the supervisor. Circuits include Grinding, Crushing, Tailings, Reagent Mixing, Concentrate Dewatering, Flotation and Control Room.
  • Develop an understanding of all mill circuits through training and experience, while advancing through the mill technician progression plan.
  • Actively participates in mentoring and training others.
  • Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Able to learn and become proficient in operation of mobile equipment (skid steer, wheel loader, mini excavator, overhead crane, and aerial work platform). Training to be provided by the company.
  • Performs any other responsibilities related to the Technician, Mill Operations role as required or as assigned by the department head. 

Education & Experience

  • Five to ten years’ experience operating a variety of mill circuits including: Grinding, Crushing, Tailings, Reagent Mixing, and Concentrate Dewatering.
  • Experience with Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out, and Fall Arrest is an asset.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Proficient with computers and computer-based systems. DeltaV experience considered an asset.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Attention and compliance to established safety rules and guidelines is paramount.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a team environment.
  • Ability to safely climb and lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
  • Collaborative work style – willing to participate in solving problems and comfortable working both in a team environment and with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Details and results-oriented with the ability to multi-task, and adhere to deadlines
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

 

Working Conditions

  • Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7 x 7 work schedule, 12 hours per day.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site.
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James, Mackenzie and Smithers.
