Summary

Reporting to the General Manager the incumbent will play a pivotal role in driving organizational excellence and enhancing productivity across all facets of the Mount Milligan Mine. The role will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of CI initiatives across all areas of the site, including operations, maintenance, technical, and support functions.

This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in engineering, operational management, and/or management consulting to drive tangible improvements in our operations. Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to identify key areas for performance improvement, develop strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Initiative Development: Lead the design and development of performance improvement initiatives, considering operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability objectives.
  • Implementation: Coordinate with area leads and oversee the execution of performance improvement projects, ensuring alignment with operational constraints and requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and monitor the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.
  • Change Management: Facilitate change management processes to ensure smooth implementation of improvement initiativeas and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Drive collaborative & cross-functional M+ process across operations, maintenance, technical, and support functions, to drive alignment and engagement in performance improvement efforts.
    • Coordinate periodic executive updates & engagement
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to operational teams to build capability and drive adoption of best practices related to performance improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to continually enhance performance improvement processes and methodologies.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mining, Mineral Processing, Chemical, Process, or Industrial), Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining operations, engineering, or management consulting, with a proven track record of driving performance improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of mining operations and technical processes, with the ability to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency gains.
  • Experience in project management, change management, and stakeholder engagement, with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams. Qualification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies is an asset.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with experience using tools such as Excel, SQL, or data visualization software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Flexibility to work on-site at the mine site or in a hybrid-remote capacity, depending on business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Previous experience in project management with strong understanding of the mining industry
  • Experience developing, implementing and monitoring quality improvement frameworks and initiatives.
  • Experience in supporting and balancing requirements of business need and service providers, while upholding contractual requirements in a fast paced and evolving environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to speak to all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to foster positive and strong relationship with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and think outside of the box to resolve the issue
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Track record successfully implementing continuous improvement initiatives

 

Working Conditions

  • This position is based at the Mine site where camp accommodations will be provided. The work rotation is either fourteen (14) days on and fourteen (14) days off or seven (7) days on and seven (7) days off, working twelve (12) hour shifts.
  • The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.
  • Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
