Position Overview

The Mining Engineer will be focused on providing mining short range plans, productivity analysis, drill and blast design, and efficiency studies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical assistance to mine operations team
  • Maintain daily, weekly and monthly reporting whilst identifying areas of concerns
  • Provide technical assistance to the drill & blast team. Maintain blast patterns and ensure reports are kept up to date ensuring compliance of all regulations is met.
  • Assist in project planning, execution and closeout.
  • Prepare optimized mining schedules and monitor progress of day to day operations through minestar fleet management system and communication with the operations team to ensure short and long term plans are consistently met.
  • Provide support to mine operations team through design and or interpretation of construction of TSF, haul roads and pit development.
  • Prepare and develop survey plans and layouts for the survey team at Mt Milligan.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Engineering Mining degree
  • A graduate in mining or a related field, BSc as a minimum
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the mining industry, preferably open pit
  • Mine design software experience (Hexagone Minesight Suite)
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the operation
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to use integrated maintenance management systems
  • Management of special projects and sub-contractors
  • Exposure to project coordination and ability to make sound project decisions
  • Effective leadership to build a strong employee culture
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements

 

Working Conditions

  • Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 14x14 work schedule, 12 hours per day.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts,
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region
