Summary
Reporting to the Mill Reliability Engineer, the Lube Technician will be responsible for various maintenance activities common to a surface hard rock mining and milling operation and the associated crushing, grinding, flotation, conveyor systems and support equipment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the handling of lubricants within the Mill. Attention paid to cleanliness best practices.
- Lubrication of all types of rotating equipment on site, not limited to regular greasing and oil addition.
- Conduct and review oil samples.
- Visually inspect mill machinery for defects and wear, reporting on those.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives of the lubrication programs and practices.
- Has the ability to learn how to use computers, participates in on-going training as a requirement of the position.
- Duties assigned to this position may be varied from time to time where required for effective maintenance of operation
Education & Experience
- 3 or more years of experience in an industrial setting or similar environment (preferably mining)
- Mechanically inclined
- Trades ticket in a mechanical related program (i.e. Automotive Mechanic, Truck & Transport Mechanic, Marine Technician, etc.) will be considered an asset
- Attention and compliance to established safety rules and guidelines is paramount
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Collaborative work style – willing to participate in solving problems
- Positive outlook with good interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with computers
- Willingness to continue learning
- Comfortable working in a team environment
- Valid Canadian Driver's License
- Ability to lift 50 pounds is required
- Strong interest and experience in heavy equipment maintenance
- Demonstrated leadership in safety
Working Conditions
- Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7 x 7 work schedule, 12 hours per day.
- Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration.
- Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site.
- Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Fort St. James and Mackenzie.
