POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the Mill Manager for Mount Milligan you will plan, manage, and review the production activities of the mill operation to optimize recovery and throughput, minimize costs and maintain quality standards. The Mill Manager will inspire the milling team to create a safe, motivated, and productive environment which leads to innovative continuous improvement. The successful candidate must have a strong focus on employee development to help achieve increased productivity and availability. The Mill Manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the 62,500 tpd concentrator, which includes employees in the departments of mill operations, on-site laboratories, and the metallurgical department. The mill consists of a primary gyratory crusher and secondary crushing circuit feeding a gearless motor drive 40’ SAG Mill, Ball Mills and a flotation circuit.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the mill processing team, managing all processing personnel and resources to achieve safe production
  • Recognize and anticipate operational, technical and safety challenges, take action to prevent or overcome them, and seek continuous improvement
  • Prepare production reports and operating budgets, monitor and report performance and costs
  • Manage research work and technical projects to maintain performance or to identify opportunities to exceed targets or improve processing methods
  • Develop and maintain quality control programs within the plant and onsite laboratories.
  • Ensures continuous communication between mine and mill operations while working closely with maintenance department to ensure continuous, safe, efficient operations
  • Collaborate with other management colleagues and corporate executives to achieve overall business objectives
  • Coordinates the implementation of occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess the confidence and ability to effectively contribute to the leadership team

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15 – 20 years milling experience
  • 5 years supervisory/management experience
  • 3-5 years in a senior leadership position
  • A bachelor’s degree in metallurgy or a related field
  • In depth understanding of process
  • Excellent health, safety and environmental awareness and ability to comply with all relevant policies and procedures
  • Strong computer skills in milling-based packages
  • Experience in base metal flotation and gold production
  • Experience in management of special projects and sub-contractors
  • Exposure to project coordination and ability to make sound project decisions
  • Effective leadership to build a strong employee culture

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts
  • Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site
